John Lescher Family Scholarship

The friends and family of Elyria Catholic High School graduate John D. Lescher '91 have come together to create The John Lescher Family Scholarship Fund. John was an active member of the EC community, academically and athletically.  He was named a Tri-Captain of the football team his senior season, helping lead the team back to the play-offs in 1990. 

John continued to succeed in life off the field after graduating from EC. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1996 and went on to obtain a master's degree in Business Administration from Tiffin University.

John took his track record of success out of the classroom and into the world and partnered with good friend, and 1990 EC Graduate, Sean Getty, to open several Jersey Mike franchises in the local area. Under John’s leadership, the franchises were extremely profitable, yet he maintained the same humble nature he had when he first walked into halls of EC as a freshman in 1987.

John was husband to Shannan, father to Johnny and Jacob, brother to Mandy, son to John and Susan, and a friend to all who met him. All were blessed to have Johnny in their lives,. Even though he was called back by God a little too soon, those whose lives he touched so deeply, continue to honor, love and remember Johnny Lescher. 

Our goal is to reach an initial investment of $10,000 to endow the The John Lescher Family Scholarship Fund and provide for annual awards. Once established, the annual scholarship will be awarded each December to a freshman entering his or her first year at Elyria Catholic that most represents John’s infectious spirit, humility, and ambition.
