Juniors Promoting Healthy Snacks
This year's Junior Retreat used an idea from Riley St. Marie for a Service Project.  The junior class collected food, decorated sandwich bags and packed over 120 of these bags with healthy snack food.  They were then delivered to the Boys and Girls Club of Elyria for the young children to take home.
Alternative Spring Break
A group of 32 EC students and 4 chaperones traveled to Toms River New Jersey on an alternative spring break trip to assist rescue efforts following Hurricane Sandy. The group’s efforts were focused on two key projects. First, students ...worked on an eco-reclamation project to help restore key parts of the shoreline that were eroded as a result of Hurricane Sandy. The project largely involved replanting grass, trees, and shrubbery that were washed away in the storm but are essential to the local environment. Second, students worked on houses that were damaged during the storm but still have not been properly repaired.  Elyria Catholic extends its heartfelt gratitude to the FCSLA (First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association) for their generous support of our Alternative Spring Break.  Visit the EC facebook page to view all of the photos from the week!

On March 8th and 9th, seniors Spencer George, Lauren Wisnor, Shannon Hopkins, and Jacob Horvath accompanied EC President Mr. Andrew Krakowiak and Assistant Principal Mr. Michael Wisnor to the “Bringing America Back to Life” symposium at the Embassy Suites in Independence.

The two day symposium featured nationally renowned speakers who shared their inspirational messages on protecting the unborn and celebrating the right to life for all human beings.

This opportunity was made possible for EC students and staff through the generosity of Mr. Tom Kurtz of the Kurtz Brothers Corporation who co-sponsored the event.  EC looks forward to even greater participation in the Right to Life events and wishes to express its gratitude to Mr. Kurtz and all of the symposium sponsors.

Congratulations to Greg Rozmarynowicz on being voted the recipient of the High School Scholastic Games of Lorain County's weekly "Standout Scholar" award, a presentation which honors the student who contributes the most to his or her team based on the observations of judges and scorekeepers.  The EC team, made up of Greg, Carl Spaetzel, and Greg Nagy qualified as a wildcard for the quarterfinals verses Elyria High.  Go Panthers!
Competing for Christ
Congratulations to the group of students who represented Elyria Catholic at this year's Fellowship of Christian Athletes "Huddle Showdown" on February 10th.  Out of the 16 schools who competed, EC came in second place!  While competing well, these students also enjoyed a day of fun and comraderie with other students from the Cleveland area who share a faith in Christ.  Special thanks to Therese Orsagos and Jacob Horvath, who were asked to speak at this event about the video project that EC submitted to FCA.  Great Job everybody!
