School Profile

Elyria Catholic High School is a coeducational, comprehensive high school with a primary focus on a college preparatory curriculum. The school was the first in Lorain County to be presented with a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award by the Department of Education, and is also accredited by the North Central Association and the state of Ohio. It is owned and operated by the Diocese of Cleveland and serves students from more than twenty surrounding cities including Lorain, Elyria, Vermilion, Wellington, Wakeman, Sheffield Lake, Sheffield Village, Amherst, Oberlin, North Olmsted, Westlake, Avon, Avon Lake, and North Ridgeville.

Academic Excellence
Elyria Catholic High School places great emphasis on academic excellence. As a recipient of the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award, along with accreditation by the North Central Association, we continually strive to raise our standards of excellence. In order to recognize students who excel academically, several honors (based on a 4.0 GPA system) have been established.

At Elyria Catholic High School, we recognize the value of small class sizes and the importance of the teacher / student relationship. We offer a 14 to 1 student / teacher ratio and an average of 24 students per classroom. This gives our faculty the ability to provide students the individual attention they deserve.

The faculty and administrative staff at Elyria Catholic High School consist of more than 50 men and women dedicated to Catholic education. Their strong belief in professionalism is evident as all of the faculty members hold a Bachelor degree and 50% have a Master degree. The faculty at Elyria Catholic High School has an average of 12 years teaching experience. They have dedicated their lives to preparing tomorrow's leaders with the knowledge, moral character, and faith in God that is essential to lifelong success.

The comprehensive curriculum at Elyria Catholic High School includes both AP and Honors courses, as well as a Learning Disabilities Program that focuses on preparing students for college. We also offer students the option of earning college credit while in high school through participation in the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program.
